ANTIMICROBIAL ACTIVITY OF GRAPHENE OXIDE

https://doi.org/10.25587/SVFU.2019.3(16).39459

Abstract

Materials with antimicrobial properties are interesting for medical production. However, the safety of modern materials based on ammonium compounds, silver ions and titanium oxide does not meet of standards. Graphene oxide is a promising candidate for biomedical research because it exhibits good antimicrobial properties with minimal cytotoxicity against human cells. This paper presents the results of our own research on the antimicrobial properties of graphene oxide. It is shown that the suspension of graphene oxide has a bactericidal and fungicidal effect, due to damage the membrane of microbial cells.
